TVNZ has appointed ex-NZ Yahoo sales boss Louis Niven as GM Online Sales to drive the overall growth of its digital media business.
Niven will oversee the sales of TVNZ’s digital portfolio across all platforms including TVNZ OnDemand, ONE News Now and its new 100% live streamed channel DUKE.
Last year TVNZ introduced online viewer registration for TVNZ OnDemand and it now has more than 1 million verified users. In his new role, Niven will explore data-targeted advertising opportunities to deliver more value to viewers and advertisers.
TVNZ’s Commercial Director Jeremy O’Brien, says Niven brings with him proven sales leadership and a track-record driving multi-media sales growth.
“Louis brings to TVNZ extremely strong and established agency and client relationships and a real passion and knowledge of video and video sales across all platforms. He has an outstanding background and we’re excited to have him on board.”
Niven comes to TVNZ from Yahoo, where he was General Manager Sales for its New Zealand business. He has previously worked for MediaWorks and Sky TV and agencies ZO and Colenso BBDO.
He took up the role at the start of this month; taking over from Yael Milbank who has a new role with Tremor Video.
