'Vellington'
Positively Wellington Tourism has outdone itself in the past week. The Voice host Darren McMullen stars in a quirky video to promote that “Wellington Has Things” in an attempt to entice Australians across the Tasman. Some of the city’s ‘things’ shown off this week has included the vampire invasion by Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement. The Wellington sign has been changed to ‘Vellington’ to promote the hotly anticipated vampire mockumentary, What We Do in Shadows.

Agency: DDB
PR: Mango
DDB has kicked off its partnership with BMW this week with the launch of a remake of Goodbye Pork Pie’s iconic Lake Hawea car-chase scene. The new Mini Hatch replaces the original 1978 model. The tribute is not quite as spectacular as dogs driving created by FCB but maybe they’re aiming at a different market.

Agency: Sugar & Partners
Client: Women's Refuge
This cheeky and pointed ad made by Sugar & Partners took home several awards at the satirical Chip Shop Awards. The ad won Grand Prix, Best Charity and Best Topical Ad awards.

Ad agency: GSL Promotus
Client: Health Promotion Agency
One in a series for the Health Promotion Agency. This bizarre ad directed by Nigel Corbett and Taika Waititi explores the relationship between a woman and her cigarette. Similar ads in the series have a man standing in a dingy alleyway saying how smoking affected his rugby performance.

Ad agency: Wieden + Kennedy
Client: Old Spice
Terry Crews and Wieden + Kennedy are at it again in a ‘Drill to Brazil’ where we see Crews tunnel through the earth. The Old Spice ads starring Terry Crews lack the disarming charm of Isaiah Mustafa versions but are in your face enough to get the message across.
