Microsoft NZ might avoid significant casualties as company lays off 18,000

Microsoft NZ is still waiting for word on how the local operation will be affected by a plan to lay off 18,000 — or about 15% of its global workforce of around 120,000.

New CEO Satya Nadella says the "vast majority" of those losing their jobs will be notified over the next six months.
