Alissa Cantrell

Alissa is a corporate and commercial lawyer with broad corporate experience in New Zealand, Australia and the United States. Alissa specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, commercial contract advice, securities law transactions, corporate governance advice, and shareholder agreements. Alissa has acted for a variety of clients including listed companies, private equity sponsors, and investment banks.

Alissa joined MinterEllisonRuddWatts from the in-house team at a global alternative asset manager based in Chicago, where she specialised in investment structuring. Prior to that, Alissa worked in the private equity team at a top-tier law firm in Australia. Alissa holds a Master of Laws from University of Chicago, specialising in corporate and securities law.

Igor Drinkovic

Igor is a Senior Associate in our Corporate and Commercial team experienced in advising local and foreign clients on a range of corporate matters.

His focus is on public M&A and equity capital markets, having acted for clients in takeovers, schemes of arrangement, capital raisings and other regulated transactions. Some of his recent work includes advising Synlait Milk Limited on its $98 million AREO, New York based Diligent Corporation on its NZ$943 million merger with entities affiliated with Insight Venture Partners and JBS on its scheme of arrangement involving Scott Technology Limited.

David Shewan

David is a Senior Associate in MinterEllisonRuddWatts’ corporate department in Wellington. His private practice experience includes transactions across various sectors including financial services, energy, transport and local government.

He is an experienced insurance law adviser, having worked in London for Bupa International and in Singapore for ACE Insurance. This in-house experience, along with time spent on secondment to commercial clients means that David is well versed in the general commercial legal issues faced by companies, including the protection of data and intellectual property.  

Hugo Chisholm

Hugo is a Senior Associate in our Property and Real Estate team. He acts for a range of public and private sector clients, including property developers and clients with national portfolios.

Hugo’s expertise includes negotiating and drafting development agreements and construction documents for principals and tenants for commercial and mixed use buildings and advising on procurement and tender processes, including for tenant fit out, new build and refurbishment. 

Hugo also provides advice to clients with national portfolios on all aspects of their leasing work including make good obligations and default issues.
