Exotic animals will find a place of rest at a new vet in Rangiora
Giraffes, monkeys, rhinoceroses, and reptiles have been catered for in a new veterinary hospital in Rangiora.
Context Architects designed the Rangiora Vet Centre, which held its official opening last weekend.
The centre’s vets boast of their ability to deal all animals, big or small, as well as exotic patients from the nearby Orana Wildlife Park.
The practice also provides specialised equine medicine and dairy farming services.
The building features an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, digital x-ray suite, six consultation rooms, three surgery rooms, sterile areas and an isolation facility.
The development recreates a typical New Zealand cluster of farm buildings with two pitched roof barns parallel to each other, and a central courtyard capturing light and ventilation.
Retail and reception areas provide a large waiting space “segregated by patient type” and a children’s play area.
Context also managed the construction of the new 1000sq m facility on the corner of Oxford and Lehmans Rd in Rangiora, replacing the previous 50-year old clinic.
