TradeMe founder Sam Morgan is the only New Zealander among three new appointments to the board of Farifax Media.
The 35-year-old rich-lister - who sold his TradeMe business to Fairfax for $700 million in 2006 – has been widely picked to sign on as a new director for some time.
Mr Morgan also currently serves as the chairman of software company Visfleet, a director of Tourism New Zealand and a director of online businesses Xero and Sonar6.
He will be joined in his new role by Australian-based businesswomen Sandra McPhee, a director at AGL Energy and Kathmandu Holdings, and former chair of Australian Post Linda Nicholls.
Fairfax posted a rise in first half profit last week, although its earnings from its New Zealand operations fell by 27.8%
Mr Morgan’s former company continued to perform well for its parent company, with TradeMe’s profit up by 11.3% to $53.1 million.
The company said an extensive review had been carried out to find the new directors, with the board expecting a further appointment in the coming months.
