Rimu Boddy and Jeff Hardisty have won the NBR Online Audacious Challenge Readers’ Choice award with an overwhelming majority.

When voting closed, the pair had over three times more votes than the next entry.

Their company – Fisherman Network Technologies – was formed while they were students at Otago Polytechnic and provides logistical and communications support for inshore fishing fleets.

In their own words: “FN Tech aims to add value to one of New Zealand’s most lucrative industries through bringing much needed logistical and communications support to inshore fishing fleets nationwide.“Our business philosophy is to add value at every opportunity through using technology to foster both our seafood industry’s sustainability and its profitability. Our technology is proven and we have built both a working model and a sound business model around it. We aim to establish the technology first in New Zealand, with a greater vision of exporting our business.”

The NBR Online Audacious Challenge is a joint initiative by Dunedin City Council, the University of Otago School of Business and Otago Polytechnic. The NBR Reader’s Choice award will see the pair receive $2000 from NBR.
