Conferenz, IDC NZ and The National Business Review have entered a partnership around the 2014 New Zealand CIO Summit.

The deal sees NBR become official media partner for New Zealand’s largest gathering of chief information officers and business executives.

The CIO Summit is entering its eighth year in 2014 and during this time it has grown to become the foremost industry event for senior executives.

Over the years, the Summit has attracted international thought leaders including Facebook CIO Tim Campos, World Bank CIO Chris Vein and former NYSE CIO Steve Rubinow.

This year, it was attended by more than 500 CIOs and executives.

“We are delighted to have NBR’s iconic brand to join the CIO Summit in 2014. The partnership will allow us to connect the largest CIO event in Asia Pacific with NBR’s exclusive business community," says Conferenz owner Steve Scott.

"Expanding the CIO Summit across NBR’s executive readership base sets the foundation for further evolution and a new level of content and discussions for the Summit ahead”.

Technology is one of NBR's key areas of coverage as business decision makers become more and more involved in IT strategy.

In August, the print edition of NBR doubled the size of its Technology section and the partnership with the CIO Summit underlines NBR’s focus and commitment to technology coverage.

"The CIO is now firmly part of a company's executive team. Indeed we saw Air New Zealand CIO Rob Fyfe promoted to CEO for six years," says NBR technology editor and head of digital Chris Keall.

"In turn, the executive teams are asking more demanding business questions of CIOs."

NBR sits at the convergence of this decision making at a time when cloud computing and the rise of mobile technologies are changing the way we do business, Mr Keall says.

"Our coverage of the CIO Summit provides a fantastic opportunity to bring NBR's executive readership up to date on the latest tech trends. And it will provide NBR with unprecedented access to the country's top tech buyers and decision makers", Mr Keall says.

“The role of the CIO is changing from being the traditional technology manager to becoming a true business innovator”, says IDC NZ country manager Ullrich Loeffler.

“This transition requires a deeper dialogue and understanding between CIOs and executive teams and we believe the CIO Summit can provide the platform to facilitate this dialogue. NBR brings an unmatched reputation and credibility amongst the NZ business community and this partnership is supporting the strategic direction of the Summit,” Mr Loeffler adds.

The New Zealand CIO Summit 2014 will be held on June 11 and 12, 2014 at Sky City in Auckland.

International keynote speakers already confirmed for the 2014 Summit include:

  • Bruno Villetelle - Global Head of Digital Services, Nestle;
  • Peter Ennis - Executive Director, Technology and Broadcast, Al Jazeera Network; and
  • Jeff Semenchuk - Chief Innovation Officer, Hyatt Hotels Corporation

More speakers will be announced closer to the event; keep an eye on www.ciosummit.co.nz.
