Wellington solicitor James Dunne has been appointed as the New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Company Secretary and General Counsel.
Dunne, who will take up his role at the end of the month, has been a partner with a boutique law firm, where he has specialised in policy and law reform.
He has a LLB and BA (History) from Victoria University and was admitted to the bar in 2008.
“The calibre of candidates for the position was impressive and we are very happy to have obtained someone with James’ expertise and enthusiasm,” NZTR Chief Executive Greg Purcell said. “His range of skills will be well suited to what will become an increasingly varied and complex role.”
Dunne, who will begin work at NZTR on 27 June, fills the position vacated by Simon Cooper, who has returned to England, after a 12 year stint with NZTR. Cooper is taking up a senior role with Weatherbys, as Operations Director of the General Stud Book.
