New Image Group Ltd said net profit after tax in the six months to December fell to $3.6 million from $5.6 million in the same period last year.
The nutrient supplement maker attributed the profit fall to the strength of the New Zealand dollar and the cost of developing new market as revenue was flat at $40.1m.
The company is paying a fully imputed interim dividend of a cent a share on April 23. This is up from 0.5c a share last year.
"The company's decision to focus on its direct selling channel will strengthen profit growth, although there will be some short-term profit constraint arising from continuing to invest in product development and in new country markets for the direct selling "channel," the company said.
