Hold the phone, folks. There’s a new ad in town this morning, and it’ll spark a homoerotic flame in your little bogan heart.
It’s been a long time since Jim Beam made a TVC in New Zealand, but here it is: Click here for the goods.
It’s centred on the idea of Jim Beam being authentic while everything else is fake.
If Spencer and Heidi are anything to go by, Jim Beam might have a point.
The TVC is from Naked and was directed by Alex Sutherland from Thick as Thieves.
It incorporates 2D elements that flatten to cardboard cut-outs of hot chicks.
The new campaign launched last week and aside from the TVC will also feature a nationwide bus back effort and ambient work in major cities and nightspots for the next eight weeks.
Remember, if it ain’t Beam, it ain’t bourbon. I don’t know about you, but after watching this ad with its magnificent soundtrack, I feel the pressing desire to don a pair of black supertapers, get into my HQ ute and do some reverse doughies in the back paddock. Wicked.
(Here's a screen grab from the ad, below. Looks like there's a bit of Beam-inspired Man Love™ going on there. The light in his eyes! The tight, sweaty grasp of the other man's glass! And the expression on the face of the bloke on the far right whose lunch is clearly being cut. Someone's not a happy Vegemite.)
"Tarquin! Where did you get your supertapers from? Oh, vintage! Hey, I wondered if you might like to come over to my place and do some reverse doughies in the back paddock sometime?"
