New Managing Director for Bupa’s New Zealand Health and Care Business

Global healthcare group Bupa has appointed Jan Adams to lead its New Zealand health and care business.

Global healthcare group Bupa has appointed Jan Adams to lead its New Zealand health and care business. Jan has been in the role in an acting capacity since April and has been with the business since 2015 as Director of Nursing and Quality and Risk.

Prior to her time with Bupa, Jan was at the Waikato District Health Board where she had held a number of roles, including Director of Nursing and Midwifery and eight years as Chief Operating Officer.

Jan has extensive experience within both the UK and NZ health sectors and following her nursing and midwifery training, Jan worked for Bupa in Merseyside, UK. As Director of Nursing and Midwifery she has served on the Nursing Council of New Zealand has been a Ministerial appointment to a number of national steering committees and was appointed by the Director General of Health to a significant inquiry into services at National Women’s Hospital.

Dean Holden, Managing Director of Bupa Australia and New Zealand, welcomed Jan’s appointment.

“Jan has had a tremendously positive impact on the business since taking the role in an acting capacity earlier this year. I’m thrilled that Jan decided to stay on and I’m sure she’ll continue to run this business with great vision, energy and enthusiasm.” said Holden.

In New Zealand Bupa are the largest aged care provider with three major aged care businesses; care homes and hospitals; retirement villages and personal medical alarms as well as dental centres and a rehabilitation business, touching the lives of more than 14,000 New Zealanders.

As well as Managing Director, Jan will continue in her role as Bupa’s Global Chief Nurse.

“I am delighted to have accepted the permanent role and to continue in my Global Chief Nurse role which is very dear to my heart. I’m looking forward to working with our residents, customers, and governments to identify opportunities to build and continue to improve access and outcomes for New Zealanders.” said Adams.
