Warren & Mahoney has created a new role of chief operating officer and appointed Grant Wilson.
He will work directly with Warren & Mahoney’s board of directors to develop future business strategy for the architectural practice, which has 184 staff and studios in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Sydney.
Mr Wilson’s most recent position was as general counsel at Vector.
Before joining Vector, he was head of corporate development at the insurance multinational Zurich Financial Services in Sydney, where he established the company’s New Zealand business.
Mr Wilson studied law at Otago University, before becoming a corporate partner at South Island law firm Anderson Lloyd, including a period as managing partner, where he specialised in mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.
He then moved to be a partner at Russell McVeagh in its Wellington office where he specialised for 10 years in large project construction, energy and insurance, particularly representing Australian listed companies investing in New Zealand. He was previously chairman of the construction technical committee of the New Zealand Law Society.
As part of his role at Warren & Mahoney he will provide assistance to clients when negotiating contracts and exploring various procurement options.
He will also assist the practice to develop its international portfolio.
Warren & Mahoney currently has a large portfolio of projects on its books, including major commercial and government buildings in the Christchurch rebuild, the Gateway science laboratory building at Victoria University, the proposed New Zealand International Convention Centre in Auckland and a number of state government and bank design projects in Victoria and New South Wales.
