After Auckland Airport confirmed four new projects last week, its development programme is now worth $115 million, making it one of the most active programmes in the country.
Last week’s deals were worth $29 million. They include the Ministry of Economic Development-supported New Zealand Food Innovation Manukau centre, a 3600sq m new office and warehouse for DSV Air & Sea Limited and a Travel Careers & Training facility.
The fourth project was an office building designed by Jasmax, with 4900sq m of space, 1800sq m of which will be used by Auckland Airport. When completed in March 2012, Auckland Airport will put its current offices in the international terminal up for lease.
On top of the Novotel and Formule 1 projects already in development and a new warehouse for Mercedes, this puts the total value of projects either under way or about to be started at $115.
Auckland Airport general manager of property Peter Alexander said its land holdings had opportunities for a wide range of potential tenants and industries.
“Auckland Airport intends to develop an airport business district to match the likes of Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and Dubai airports in acting as a hive of economic activity, and a world-class business experience in its own right,” he said.
