Wellington’s Paul Hastings & Co is marketing the lease of a former RSA as more ageing members hear the last post.

The agency is advertising the Johnsonville RSA for lease at 141 Johnsonville Rd with the added attraction of a seismic upgrade.

The Johnsonville RSA went into liquidation in late 2013 and the property was sold for an undisclosed price to a company called Braedon owned by Margaret and Thomas Wright.

The Johnsonville closure and re-leasing follows the closure of the Wainuiamata RSA in early 2013. It had a rateable value of $2 million but sold for $385,000 due its specialised layout.

Meanwhile, Paul Hastings & Co recently sold St Cuthbert’s church in Berhampore for $465,00, which compares with its rating value of $930,000.

The distinctive building on the front part of the property is expected to be demolished for structural reasons. It was sold on behalf of the Anglican Church trustee.

By contrast, a BNZ bank building at Waikanae sold for $597,000 by Paul Hastings & Co compared with its $495,000 rating value.
