John Key has named the date for the Northland by-election: Saturday, March 28.
Prime Minister John Key has named the date for the Northland by-election: Saturday, March 28.
The ballot follows the resignation of incumbent National MP Mike Sabin.
"This date gives parties sufficient time to prepare, while allowing the process to move ahead," Mr Key said this afternoon.
The deadline for candidate nominations is midday Tuesday March 3.
Mr Sabin replaced the retiring John Carter as Northland MP in 2011. He held the electorate in 2014 with a 9300 majority.
