Northland Port Corp Ltd said log throughput continues to be above budget, while other cargoes remain at similar levels to budget.
Northland Port Corp has a joint venture with Port of Tauranga call Northport which operates the port at Marsden Point. Northland Port Corp has become an investment company.
"I am pleased to report that trading in the first four months of the financial year is close to budget and in line with last year's volumes," chairman Geoff Vazey told shareholders at the annual meeting.
"Should this continue, and indications are that it will, then we will see another year with cargo volumes in excess of 2 million tonnes," he said.
The development of the company's industrial-zoned land has been frustratingly slow with only one site leased in the last 12 months.
Mr Vazey said discussions were continuing with Bio Pacific Energy about a wood pellets manufacturing plant but the development has been delayed by the global recession.
