Private Bin spent much of the summer collecting people from and delivering people to Auckland Airport.
An often-heard topic of conversation in the car en route was the shocking state of the large New Zealand flag flying proudly on the airport site.
Not only was there a hole in the Union Jack part (we were not amused) but also the edge of the flag (which probably has some fancy name) was ragged and tatty.
Yes Private Bin was on holiday but, ever the reporter, this remained top of mind to share and lament with the faithful leaders.
Last airport run showed a patched up flag.
Our initial thought was to lambast the airport for being cheapskates...but then we remembered the age of restraint and we decided we quite liked it.
Or felt that we should anyway.
