Nasa unveils 'quietest' supersonic jet

Officials claim design will revolutionise future air travel.

Nasa’s new supersonic X-59 from Lockheed Martin is designed to break the sound barrier without the typical thunderous sonic booms. Instead, the so-called Quesst (Quiet SuperSonic Technology) will make a much quieter "thump", similar to the sound of a car door slamming as heard from indoors.
