Airlines may miss emission targets unless Saf production ramps up
Air New Zealand has joined Qantas in a consortium establishing a biofuel refinery at Marsden Point, which could make domestic sustainable aviation fuel production a reality.
The ‘big boys’ in the oil and gas industry need to start producing larger quantities of sustainable aviation fuel (Saf) if airlines such as Air New Zealand can ever be expected to reach emissions reductions goals, says the head of the region’s airline advocacy body.
