NZ Crane retreats from Wellington
The company is consolidating operations in Auckland.
The company is consolidating operations in Auckland.
NZ Crane Group has sold its Wellington branch to Titan Cranes “to form a closer relationship between the two companies”.
Until now, they have competed in the Wellington area.
The sale will result in closure of NZ Crane’s branch in the capital, with six cranes incorporated into the Titan fleet.
Several cranes will be retained by NZ Crane and absorbed into its Auckland branch.
NZ Crane is based in Auckland and says the sale of the Porirua operation is part of a wider strategy to focus on large scale commercial, infrastructure and civil projects.
Staff are being told about the move today.
Spin doctor Andrew Luxmoore told NBR ONLINE the company has seven staff in Wellington and both companies are working closely around their future employment.
He says Titans could not guarantee work for all employees, but will consider all applications from NZ Crane Wellington staff for fulltime and transitional work.
NZ Crane will also seek expressions of interest from Wellington branch staff to fill vacanacies in its Auckland office for truck, crane operators and qualified dogmen.
“With all operations running from head office and a more streamlined approach to our business, in many ways NZ Crane will be better equipped to deliver market leading mobile crane hire throughout the country,” group managing director Deane Manley says.
