Opus International Consultants, a former Ministry of Works and Development division, has reported an interim net profit after tax of $10.4 million, double the $5.1 million profit last year.
Earnings before interest and tax (ebit) of $15.5 million in the six months to June 30 were up from $7.4 million last year.
A breakdown showed Australia contributed $1.4 million, Canada $200,000, New Zealand $13.6 million and the UK $200,000 to the ebit.
The company is paying an interim dividend of 3.4c a share on September 30.
"This is a very positive outcome for the first half of this year, and was achieved despite the tight economic conditions in many of our markets which has constrained revenue growth," chairman Kerry McDonald said.
He also said David Prentice will become chief executive when Kevin Thompson retires on October 1.
Dr Prentice is currently director of Opus in the UK, based in Bristol.
