Steve Outtrim made his fortune building one of the first web page editors in the early days of the internet. He was just 23 at the time and netted $A51 million when he took his HotDog Web Editor public in his Sausage Software. He left when it later merged with SMS Management and Technology, an IT consulting firm.
He is also the former owner of Aussie Bodies, which was acquired by Healtheries in 2004; and founder of software company Majitek. In 2014, Outtrim listed Majitek, by then known as Urbanise (Australia's fourth-fastest growing tech company in 2015) on the ASX. It hit an early peak of $A1.50 a share but was recently trading at just 30Ac.
Outtrim is now working on his new blockchain venture, zMint.co, founded in 2017. The company, which is based in Auckland, advises on how to make cryptocurrency initial coin offerings.
Born and educated in Wellington, the 46-year-old has created an “energy group” at his former school, Wellington College, called eKoSchool, which aims to reduce energy usage. He is also the founder and owner of ekoLiving, which specialises in environmental technology solutions.
