The Pendergrasts started out investing in car yards but moved on to doing makeovers for commercial buildings.
Their first shopping centre redevelopment was Southmall in Manurewa, followed by Royal Oak and the Rialto Centre in Newmarket, Auckland.
They have also made investments in inner city offices and retail.
Last year, the couple was occupied with the refurbishment of the Glenfield Mall, which they bought from Westfield developer Scentre for $104 million at the end of 2015.
The project was so time-consuming they relocated their company, Ladstone Holdings, from a property they own on College Hill to the mall.
The couple enjoy regular commutes between their home in St Mary’s Bay and a $7.6m clifftop property at Owhanake Bay on Waiheke Island.
They support the arts and are gold sponsors of Waiheke’s biennial Headland Sculpture on the Gulf exhibition. Dallas was on the fundraising committee this year.
They also own a property in Fiji, which their family makes good use of.
