Baker’s Delight bakeries are donating a dollar from the sale of each Pink Bun sold until June 7 to cancer charity Look Good Feel Better.
It provides a free service to people undergoing treatment through Feel Better Classes, which offer advice, support and makeover sessions. Trained beauty volunteers help patients get their identity back, with ways to combat physical changes during and after gruelling treatment.
Look Good Feel Better general manager Clare O’Higgins says the charity receives no government funding and relies on corporate and public support.
“Baker’s Delight is a long-time supporter of our services in New Zealand,” she says. “We are tremendously grateful for it’s support of Look Good Feel Better patients during a tough and anxious journey and the huge benefits the workshops have on women and teens experiencing the harsh reality of treatment.”
Baker’s Delight will share the stories of two Look Good Feel Better recipients, Tania and Christie, in all 28 stores, illustrating how buying Pink Buns means funds for Look Good Feel Better. All the proceeds will directly benefit workshops in communities throughout New Zealand.
Since its inception, Look Good Feel Better has helped over 35,000 patients and this year will run an increased number of classes – 250 workshops in 31 regions, reaching more than 3200 women.
Baker’s Delight bakeries, which have supported the charity since 2006, are also donating Pink Buns to all those taking part in a workshop in their area during the campaign.
