Canterbury police have executed four search warrants as part of the investigation into the collapse of the CTV building.
In a prepared statement late today Police Detective Superintendent Peter Read says the warrants form part of the investigation.
Documents and items of interest have been seized.
In September 2014 the police announced that they were going ahead with a criminal investigation after assessing a large amount of information about the collapse of the CTV building during the February 2011 earthquake.
The collapse of the building killed 115 people.
Police have also engaged the services of engineering consultants Beca to provide expert opinion to the investigation.
Detective Superintendent Read says the investigation involves consideration of a large amount of complex, technical information to inform police on recommendations about any criminal liability.
Any decisions will be subject to legal review before the final outcome of the investigation is known, which will not be until later this year.
Superintendent Read says police will not give any interviews or confirm any details in relation to the warrants.
