Commerce Minister Simon Power has held the first ministerial level talks with members of Australia's new government.
He is in Canberra where he met Finance Minister Senator Penny Wong and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, David Bradbury.
A joint statement i said they reaffirmed the commitment of both governments to deepen the economic relationship between the two countries.
They discussed the progress that has been achieved in creating a single economic market under the new outcomes agreement framework.
"The ministers affirmed the priority they will give to this work and to a key guiding principle that encourages moving beyond considerations of national interest to consideration of net transtasman benefits," the statement said.
Mr Power also held talks with Australian Attorney-General Robert McClelland.
