Auckland Racing Club is upping the stakes for major races this season.

“Following on from a successful 2010/11 racing season, I am delighted to announce that Auckland Racing Club will offer stakes $645,000 above New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing’s minimum stake guidelines," Russell Warwick, chairman of the Auckland Racing Club says.

New Zealand’s three richest races are included in the announcement – the Group I $750,000 Telecom New Zealand Derby and the Group I $500,000 Stella Artois Auckland Cup which complement the Restricted Listed $1,000,000 Karaka Million.

Auckland Racing's Group II races throughout The New Zealand Herald Christmas Carnival and Auckland Cup Week’s Group II Darley Plate will continue to be held with a $100,000 stake as per last season.
