The revamp of Rainbow’s End achieved another milestone this month with completion of a $1.4 million entrance upgrade.
The amusement park’s chief executive Chris Deere says the new developments are part of a longer-term rejuvenation plan that’s included a $2.3 million investment in a new Stratosfear ride, and introduction of an all-weather family entertainment centre, Kidz Kingdom, which opened in 2013.
Following a brand refresh in 2014, the park’s retail area has been consolidated to a hub near the gate and its merchandise mix revised, while laneways and a cafe have also been introduced.
New ticket booths and a concourse canopy are currently under construction, and more enhancements will be announced next year.
RCG, the architect and retail strategist for the project, conducted market research and benchmarked findings against overseas theme parks.
Rainbow’s End is owned by Rangatira, a Wellington investment company with a portfolio that includes Tuatara Brewing and Hellers.
