Retraction and apology to Neville Crichton

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

In the Rich List, published by the National Business Review on Friday, July 26, 2013, we made certain references to Mr Crichton in connection with a Mr Obeid and an Australian corruption inquiry involving Mr Obeid.

We acknowledge and regret that we made a mistake in our reporting and accept unreservedly that Mr Crichton was not involved in or in any way mentioned in the Australian inquiry.

In addition we acknowledge that Mr Crichton has never sold a car to Mr Obeid.

We therefore wish to apologise sincerely and unconditionally for our mistake and we wish to acknowledge completely Mr Crichton’s outstanding contribution as a New Zealander of high integrity.

We sincerely regret any harm and embarrassment our mistake has caused to him or his business interests.

We also acknowledge and appreciate the constructive manner in which Mr Crichton and his lawyer Michael Reed QC has enabled an amicable resolution with NBR to have been achieved.
