The Ruapehu District Council’s land grabs have paid off for bargain hunters, with seven offers on various pieces of “abandoned” land meeting reserve.

One tenderer scored a section for just $400 in Ohura.

The council put the pieces of land up for tender in February, deeming them abandoned
