This is a supplied media release.

Russell McVeagh board chairman David Hoare says, "The firm is proud to welcome Cameron to the firm's environment, planning and natural resources team, while Ben and Joe are promoted within Russell McVeagh's corporate and litigation teams respectively."

Joining the firm as a lateral partner from his role as acting managing counsel (planning & network operations) at the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), Cameron Law has an expert understanding of the transport, infrastructure and public sectors. With almost 20 years' experience in the resource management space, 13 years of which have been in private practice, he has recently spent over five years with NZTA at the forefront of major planning projects around the country in a variety of legal roles.

"Cameron is uniquely positioned within the market place. His ability to understand and participate in transport decision-making, together with his skills and relationships within the transport and public sectors, have been critical to the planning, funding and the development of transport and other infrastructure around New Zealand. We're delighted he's joining the firm to add to our broader infrastructure expertise," Mr Hoare says.

Ben Paterson began his career with the firm in 2008, having summer-clerked twice, and since built a strong reputation in the corporate, M&A and private equity sectors, and has remained with the firm ever since. A key dealmaker for Russell McVeagh, with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures and overseas investment, Mr Paterson has acted on a number of significant transactions for Pacific Equity Partners, The Riverside Company, CHAMP Private Equity, Fonterra, Lion and Oceania Healthcare.

"Ben is trusted and highly valued by his clients for his ability to work cooperatively with them to achieve exceptional results, as well as highly regarded by his fellow advisers. He is an important contact for key corporate clients of Russell McVeagh," says Mr Hoare.

Aside for a year working for the British Home Office and a year on secondment with the International Rugby Board for Rugby World Cup in 2011, Joe Edwards has also spent his entire career at Russell McVeagh, from the first intake of Russell McVeagh scholars in 1999, through to his recent appointment as special counsel. Throughout this time he has worked with a number of market-leading litigation partners, including former Russell McVeagh partners Justice Katz, Justice Fitzgerald, and the former solicitor-general, Mike Heron, QC.

Mr Edwards heads the marketing law, media and intellectual property team and specialises in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on regulatory investigations and prosecutions, privacy law, intellectual property and information technology disputes.

"Joe is widely respected as one of the leaders in his field, and enjoys strong relationships with our clients and regulators alike," concludes Mr Hoare.
