New Zealand wholesale trade sales continued to rise in the first three months of the year for the second consecutive quarter.
Statistics New Zealand figures released today show sales increased a seasonally-adjusted 2.4% in the March quarter, just down on the 2.6% rise in the previous quarter.
The data is a measure of activity in the wholesale trade sector, which supplies retailers.
The seasonally-adjusted value of total wholesale trade stocks was $8.6 billion at the end of March.
This was a drop of 3.4% on the previous quarter.
Cars and car parts accounted for more than a third of the overall increase. This coincided with tighter emission standards for imported cars.
