Seeka Kiwifruit Industries says six of its kiwifruit suppliers have been affected by the vine-killing disease PSA.
All six orchards are in Te Puke, totalling about 39 hectares, and two are under long-term lease with Seeka.
The company said if it lost all of its kiwifruit supply from the six orchards it would represent about 8 percent of its gold kiwifruit supply, or 2 percent of Seeka's total kiwifruit supply.
"Based on current knowledge, the symptoms on these particular orchards are considered light and action has been taken to remove infected plants," the company said.
This morning 25 orchards across the country's kiwifruit industry had been infected by PSA.
Te Puke had 21 confirmed cases, Hawke's Bay had two, while Edgecumbe and Whakatane each had one.
All the affected orchards grew the gold kiwifruit variety, which represented about 25 percent of the New Zealand kiwifruit crop by volume, the company said.
However, there were no reported impacts on the green variety -- about 75 percent of the country's kiwifruit crop.
Seeka said it would provide its financial report for the six months ending September 30 by November 29 and it would also give a forecast of its full-year profit.
