Fugitive warlord Joseph Kony has been chased out of Democratic Republic of Congo to the neighbouring Central African Republic and no longer pose a threat in Congo, a Congolese general said today.
The comment follows a complaint by Uganda that Congo was obstructing its United States-backed hunt for Mr Kony.
The cult-leader, who recruits thousands of child soldiers into his Lord’s Resistance Army, has been thrust into the headlines after a celebrity-backed internet campaign calling for his arrest - Invisible Children. The US-based charity was involved in a controversy about its budgeting recently, prompting them to reveal their finances on their website as reported in NBR last week.
