South Island wine, dairy properties go to foreigners


The Overseas Investment Office has given the nod for more rural properties to go to overseas buyers.

Nevada-based Gibbston Valley Wines chairman and majority shareholder Phil Griffith has been given approval to buy all the shares in the company.

He currently owns 83.9% and will now be permitted to go to 100% ownership.

The company owns 42ha at Gibbston near Queenstown.
