Southern Hospitality appoints new managing director

Southern Hospitality has appointed experienced director and leader, John Journee as the new Managing Director for their expanding New Zealand and Australian operations, replacing the retired founding Director Roger Fewtrell.

John is excited about increasing his involvement with the company citing its passionate team, service culture and a market leading position as key motivations for taking the role.

In handing over the reins, Roger commented that he is confident the company will be in good hands.

John’s career has included leadership roles across companies in the retail, wholesale, fashion, consumer electronics, and telecommunications sectors. John’s recent executive roles include GM Business Development for The Warehouse Group and CEO of Noel Leeming. He is also a Director of The Warehouse Group and Chairman of online electricity company Powershop.

Margie Haseltine, currently an Independent Director for Southern Hospitality, has been appointed as Chairperson. 

Margie said “I have been impressed by the exponential growth the company continues to make on an annual basis. It is an exciting vibrant company heading into an exciting future in both the New Zealand and Australian markets. Having John at the helm will enable the company to continue to build strength in the markets. We look forward to an exciting 2016.”

Australian based Margie is a highly experienced leader and company director. Margie was the CEO of Mars Food company for five years, and has over 12 current years’ Board experience.

Margie's broad international executive experience includes general management, supply chain, procurement, vertically integrated manufacturing, business development and change management.
