A spokeswoman for NBR Rich Lister Sir Michael Hill says he was not involved in this afternoon's fatal plane crash on the Arrowtown Golf Course.
"Sir Michael is absolutely fine," she told NBR.
Speculation the jeweller and retailer died when a Cessna plane crashed just after 3pm is false, she says.
While aircraft records show Sir MIchael is the owner of a Cessna, neither that plane nor he were involved in the fatal crash.
Media reports say three people were on board the light plane when it crashed, that one man died and another man and a woman are in hospital.
