The first state sector-wide contract has been signed -- for stationery.
Economic Development Minister Gerry Brownlee announced today that Corporate Express New Zealand and OfficeMax have won contracts to form a panel of suppliers of stationery and office supplies to state sector agencies.
Mr Brownlee said it was the first in a series of similar state sector-wide contracts that would save $115 million over five years.
It was about harnessing the collective buying power of the state sector, he said.
Mr Brownlee said the contracts will reduce the costs and doing business and will be awarded to a panel of suppliers to ensure choice and maintain a competitive marketplace.
