Cawthron Institute, New Zealand's largest independent science organisation, has announced the director appointments of Lees Seymour and Roz Buick.
Seymour is of Ngāti Hikairo affiliation and returns to the Cawthron Institute board, after a three-year term between 2016 and 2019. He was previously executive general manager of OneFortyOne and has more than 20 years’ experience in senior roles.
Since 2020, Seymour has been focusing on his consultancy business and consults the Government on both local and international forest and wood product organisations.
Seymour’s term on the board started on May 1, replacing Elaine McCaw.
Buick has extensive international experience in the agriculture sector. She is currently senior vice-president of product strategy, development and product marketing for Oracle in Colorado. Previously Buick worked for Trimble in the US for more than 16 years, and lectured in agricultural sciences at Lincoln University in Canterbury.
Buick plans to return to New Zealand within the next year and until then will join board meetings remotely.
Buick’s term begins on October 1, replacing John Cunningham.
