Housing market has helped economy through Covid-19 downturn

ASB chief economist Nick Tuffley says there is now no need for RBNZ to go into negative territory.

The ASB is another economic forecaster now predicting better times for New Zealand’s battered economy.

In its latest quarterly forecasts, the ASB is predicting the economy to shrink just 3% by the end of the year, a much better prospect than the 6-7% slump it predicted in March.
