KiwiRail rejects re-opening Wairoa to Gisborne rail line

The state-owned rail company estimates the move would be too costly.

A new report for government ministers appears to have ended hopes for the rail line between Wairoa and Gisborne to be reopened.

The KiwiRail report, obtained by NBR, rejects a report from Business and Economic Research Ltd (BERL) that found the line could be reinstated at a cost of between $20
