NZ Pork appoints new CEO

Brent Kleiss promoted to the role.

Mon, 28 Mar 2022

New Zealand Pork, the statutory industry body working to support commercial pig farmers, has announced the appointment of Brent Kleiss as the new chief executive.

Kleiss joined NZ Pork as policy manager in July 2021, bringing widespread experience in the primary sector to the role.

NZ Pork chair Eric Roy said: “Since joining NZ Pork, Kleiss has impressed us with his skills and strategic insight in a range of areas.”

Prior to NZ Pork, Kleiss spent 13 years with the Ministry for Primary Industries, most recently as principal adviser in stakeholder and industry engagement for the public affairs department.

He was also in a chief quarantine officer role at the organisation for five years.

Kleiss said he was looking forward to meeting more members of the pork sector.

“I’ve already met a number of our farmers and it’s clear to me how much they care about their animals, their products, and their communities.”

Kleiss takes up the role on May 2.
