Unemployment remains low but wage increases trail inflation
There has been a big reduction in the number of unemployed people compared with a year earlier.
The unemployment rate was just 3.2% in the three months to the end of December, barely changed from the previous quarter.
In the September quarter the unemployment rate had been 3.3%.The new figure is a record low in the Household Labour Force Survey which started in 1986.
