Retiring chief executive CERA leaves today.
Outgoing Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority chief executive Roger Sutton is enjoying a private farewell today with staff.
He resigned under a cloud late last year, prompting a States Services Commission review of a harassment allegation.
His “gardening leave” ends this week as per his official resignation.
Mr Sutton's farewell is being held away from the CERA offices at a private venue and staff are understood to be bringing cakes and buns.
The acting head of CERA, John Ombler, was reportedly planning to attend to talk about Mr Sutton’s achievements at the organisation.
Regardless of the circumstances in which Mr Sutton departs this week, he has clearly retained the respect and friendship of many people, including female staff at CERA.
He has been seen on several occasions enjoying social events and in recent weeks was holidaying with his family at Totaranui.
He has yet to declare his future employment intentions, taking time out to be with family.
