The TAB says it’s been under cyber attacks for the past few days – it’s busiest time of the year.
General manager Glenn Patrick says its computer system has been “flooded with bogus requests” that has resulted in customers being unable to place bets.
Mr Patrick says it has brought in staff to work on the problem and filter out those attacks.
He did not disclose details of the nature of attacks, nor who is responsible or why. But the betting agency has assured customers their financial information is still secure.
Mr Patrick says the attacks are unprecedented and says blocking techniques are being used to combat them.
He has told Radio New Zealand the TAB has received some information about who is behind the attack and this has been provided to the police.
Financial losses will be minimal as customers can still place bets on their phones and other devices.
Turnover during the holiday season has been up on last year.
