This is a supplied media release

Recruitment solutions company Talent Propeller has appointed Joanna Baker as Group General Manager at the organisation.

Sharon Davies, Talent Propeller Managing Director, says Baker’s proven capabilities and knowledge of the business will help drive growth across the company’s initiatives. “Joanna played a valuable role as the Australian Country Manager for Big Splash, our recruitment advertising business. Due to rapid growth, she was seconded from her position to Shenzhen in China, where she set up a branch focused around graphic design and other services.”

After five years, Baker opted for a change of pace and in 2011 joined Fletcher Building as a marketing manager for its Laminex brand portfolio in Australia.

Baker is excited to return to recruitment, particularly given the advances which have been made in information technology which are powering new ways of connecting job seekers with employers. “The world today is a dynamic place; all industries are being disrupted and recruitment is no exception. I’m passionate about connected communities and smart tools which help employees and employers find one another, so the time is right to come back.”

Based in Australia, Baker’s remit extends to New Zealand. She will focus on implementing strategic partnerships across Talent Propeller’s brands to drive the company’s footprint on both sides of the Tasman.

She says Talent Propeller has firmly positioned itself as a disruptor, bringing smart, cost effective online tools to streamline recruitment, and is carving out market share by successfully competing with large incumbents. “Our focus is on eliminating costly, time-consuming recruitment processes. That’s a powerful – and proven – value proposition, which gives this business substantial potential for growth.”

Baker’s other interests include lecturing in market research, digital marketing and management, while she sits on RMIT University’s industry advisory panel in Melbourne.
