Data centre growth could quadruple their energy use

New Zealand data centres could nearly quadruple their energy use by 2030 if they exploit an export market for AI-centric cloud capacity, says a new report from industry body NZTech.

Data centres will use just 0.6% of all electricity consumed across the country this year, according to the report.
