The Government has announced it will directly allocate long term access to the 3.5GHz spectrum – the C-band spectrum used for 5G services – to major telecommunications operators, rather than auctioning it.
An auction, of the kind that occurred in 2014 over 4G spectrum, usually brings in revenue
