Registrations for the annual Canterbury Software Summit 2014 to be held on Thursday have reached 450 and are stili rising.

The summit is one of the high points for technology geeks and the largest such event in the South Island.

Keynote speakers include ex-Microsoft DirectX renegade Alex St John, senior lecturer at University of Auckland Michelle Dickinson, and Telogis chief technology officer Ralph Mason.

This year’s summit is being held at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand in Wigram after outgrowing Addington Raceway.

It has also been extended from a half day to a full day event.

Session topics include innovation, parallel processing, designing enhanced user experiences, security, and IT talent shortage.

The theme of the summit is “Full Throttle” reflecting the momentum in Canterbury’s technology sector, according to Geoff Brash, chair of the Canterbury Software Cluster
